âHow can we help you, friend of Elroy?â Sat at an ornate wooden desk, tapping his manicured fingers on the table, was Alfie. He leant back after asking his question, straightening the lapels on his black, crisp suit, and adjusting his cufflinks so they shined towards Kye; his ginger curled hair bounced as he nodded to both his sides, subduing the tattooed guards that were stood with their weapons up and trained towards him. He waved a smooth hand, embellished with intricate and expensive jewellery, to the seat in front of him, which Kye took before speaking, hands still firmly in his pockets.
âI want E-Drine. Two vials. I can pay you credit chips. No, thank you.â He declined Alfieâs silent offer of a drink, and leaned back into his chair, equally confident as a result of his anger. Alfie stroked his beard, eyes glazing over as he ran through a list of their internal stock. The guards bristled a little as he was left vulnerable, but Kye stayed still and gave them no cause to be startled.
âI can do that for you. Itâs not cheap.â
Kye sighed, and dug into his pocket, muttering as he did, âIt never is. You got any mellowers? Just want a few added on.â
Alfie held up a finger, eyes glazing once more. âThatâll be for eight credit chips. You good to pay now?â Kye nodded, dropping the chips to the table as the left soldier moved forward and placed the drugs onto his side. He rapped his knuckles down, spiked additions chipping holes into the wood as Kye stood and swiped the drugs, slipping them into his pocket with his free hand. Alfie stood to meet him, slipping a sideways glance to the left soldier who had knocked; his right hand stuck out for a handshake as his left moved to his pocket. Kye tensed up, grabbing his hand as tight as he did his weapon, looking Alfie in the eye. A shot rang out and the soldier to his left dropped to the floor, spraying the inside of the tent a darker shade of red. Kye reeled back, pulling his weapon to his front as Alfie gripped his hand stronger and spoke, loudly and calming.
âThatâs alright, friend of Elroy, weapon down. Save the cybernetics too.â
Kye stopped himself, noticing who had been shot, and wrenched his hand back, moving away from Alfie slowly as the soldier on his left dropped a handkerchief into his outstretched hand. Kye stayed quiet as Alfie wiped the side of his suit down, and dropped his own handpistol to the table. âYou may leave.â The red handkerchief was stuffed into his top pocket, along with the eight stained credit chips. âThank you for your business.â Kye turned without another word, and walked outside.
